Rebroadcast Date: October 23, 2002 SYNOPSIS: On August 5th, 1998, David Lee Kemp received his final divorce papers from his wife of five years. He vowed that no other man could have her. Christina ("Tina") Creamer had moved on and was dating, Robert Miller, whom she met at the hospital where the two worked. Six days later, the bodies of Christina, 25, and Robert, 26, were found shot to death in Miller's apartment. Police believed David Lee Kemp was responsible, but Kemp took off before authorities could stop him. Two weeks later, a California Highway Patrolman in Bishop, California saw a man walking through town. He apparently had run out of gas and abandoned his vehicle. The officer ran the plates and realized the vehicle was registered to David Lee Kemp, who was wanted for a double homicide in Oklahoma. Authorities moved in on Kemp and engaged in a two-hour standoff with him in a junkyard. Kemp demanded to speak to his mother who was a detective in Louisiana. Police lowered a cell phone behind a fence and allowed Kemp to talk to his mother. Kemp put a gun to his head several times threatening suicide before he was taken down with non-lethal beanbag shots. He was taken into custody and extradited to Lawton, Oklahoma, eventually landing in the Comanche County Jail awaiting trial. Six months later, on March 11th, 1999, prisoners of Comanche County Jail took over the prison by holding a deputy at bay with a barbecue fork. Nine prisoners escaped. Kemp was one of them and was sighted headed for Texas. It wouldn't be the last time Kemp evaded authorities. According to a night manager at a Las Vegas motel, Kemp was a tenant (under an alias) in June, 1999. One day when his rent was late, the manager stopped by Kemp's room. He found Kemp was lying in the bathtub with a knife on his stomach and covered with blood. It seemed as if Kemp had tried to commit suicide. Kemp was taken to a psychiatric hospital and treated. Doctors reported the wounds to be only superficial. He was checked into the hospital under the name of John Doe, and voluntarily checked himself out days later. Not only did Kemp get out of paying his rent, he eluded police one more time as the hospital officials did not know he was wanted. Kemp was last seen getting into a black Firebird at a gas station on the outskirts of Las Vegas. David Lee Kemp is now 32 years old. He is 6'3" tall and weighs 200 pounds. He has blonde/strawberry blonde hair and brown eyes. Kemp has a small patch of white hair on back of head near his neck. He has scars on his wrists from a failed suicide attempt. He is also an outdoorsman who feels at home in rural areas. If you have any information about the whereabouts of David Lee Kemp, please contact the FBI or call the Unsolved Mysteries hotline, 1-800-876-5353.
