Broadcast Date: September 18, 2002 SYNOPSIS: On Halloween of 2001, Penn State University senior Cindy Song went to a party at Player’s Nite Club, a popular student hangout, with two girlfriends, Stacy Paik and Lisa Kim. Song dressed as a bunny rabbit for the occasion. The girls partied until 2:00 a.m. and later stopped by a friend’s apartment. About 4:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 1st 2001, Stacy Paik dropped off Cindy at her apartment and drove away. Nobody has seen Cindy Song since. A search of Cindy’s apartment showed no sign of struggle or forced entry. False eyelashes Cindy had worn to the Halloween party were found in the apartment, as were the backpack and cell phone she always carried. The only things missing were her purse, with her driver’s license and credit cards, and Cindy herself. Police believe Cindy was still wearing her Halloween costume when she disappeared. Cindy’s telephone records reveal that she didn’t make or receive any calls after Stacy dropped her off, and a search of her computer revealed no new or suspicious e-mail correspondence. There has been no activity on Cindy’s credit cards since her disappearance. Friends say running off on a whim was simply not something Cindy would ever do. They also say it is unlikely that Cindy would have taken her own life. She had an upbeat, bubbly personality and had shown no signs of being depressed. Police theorize that Cindy may have left the apartment to walk to a nearby twenty-four hour supermarket, something friends said she often did, and that she was abducted on her way to or from the store. Otherwise, she may have left her apartment with someone she knew. Since early November, police have followed up on literally hundreds of tips, and have repeatedly searched the entire campus and surrounding areas with dog teams and infrared equipment, all to no avail. A few days after Cindy Song disappeared, a witness reported seeing a woman matching Cindy’s description in Philadelphia’s Chinatown district, nearly 200 miles from Cindy’s apartment. The witness said the woman was "crying and yelling for help." The witness described the alleged abductor as a man with olive to light-brown complexion and medium length hair. He is not a suspect, but police would like to question him. A $27,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the location of Cindy Song. Characteristics: Hyunjung Cindy Song is a 22-year-old Korean female with long, straight black hair and brown eyes. She is 5’1” tall and weighs approximately 110 pounds.
