SYNOPSIS: Laura Law and her boyfriend of 11 years, Mike Tlusty, enjoyed entertaining in their Arkdale, Wisconsin home. Denise Piccioni and her husband were often guests. Denise was Mike's cousin and Laura's best friend. However, one night in March 2001, Mike Tlusty was ready to argue when he tracked Laura down at a nearby casino where she had gone to gamble with Denise and her mother. According to Denise, Laura said that Mike was depressed and that something was wrong with him. After that night, Mike Tlusty would never be seen again. Strangely, however, one person would claim to know where Mike went: his longtime girlfriend, Laura Law. Ultimately, she too would disappear.

Laura said that when they returned from the casino, Mike packed some clothes and $73,000 in cash - which she said came from the graphics business they owned. According to Laura, Mike then set out on foot from their rural home in the middle of the night. Two weeks after Mike disappeared, Laura told Denise that Mike had called and said he was out west. But four months passed and there was still no sign of Mike Tlusty. What seemed most bizarre to Denise was that Laura lied to Mike's mother and told her that Mike had gone to Canada. Denise became suspicious and she soon recalled other instances of Laura's bizarre behavior. At one point, Denise tried to recover her snowmobiles that were stored in Mike and Laura's backyard shed. Laura seemed determined to prevent anyone from entering the padlocked shed. Finally, Laura removed the snowmobiles by herself, but she still prevented anyone else from entering the shed. The thought now crossed Denise's mind - could something to do with Mike's disappearance be hidden in the shed?

Four months after Mike Tlusty disappeared, his brother Mark filed a Missing Person's Report with the local authorities. The case was ultimately assigned to investigator Gary Silka. Laura invited Silka to look around on the property, but threw up a roadblock when he asked to look in the shed, saying she had recently rented the building out. Authorities now believe that within hours of being questioned by investigators, Laura Law hastily fled her home. Her whereabouts are still unknown.

It would take several more months of investigation before Investigator Silka was granted a search warrant for the property. On January 22, 2002, investigators finally entered the mystery shed where they discovered a decomposing human body covered in a blanket and plastic wrapping. It was the body of Mike Tlusty. He had been dead between nine and ten months. The cause of death was attributed to a single gunshot wound to the back of the victim's head. Several years before the incident, Laura Law had purchased a 9mm handgun and it is believed to be the weapon that was used in the homicide of Mike Tlusty. Despite the evidence, those who knew the couple were stunned to conclude that Laura had murdered Mike. Denise believes that Laura had a gambling problem and that Mike may have told her that enough was enough and that she needed to consider leaving.

UPDATE: Shortly after we finished filming this segment, fugitive Laura Law was captured in Nashville, Tennessee. Based on information received from a tip, FBI investigators began questioning motel employees in the downtown Nashville area. Law was identified by an employee of a motel as their late-shift desk clerk. When she arrived for work on July 16, 2002, Laura Law was arrested. She had been charged with First Degree Murder, Hiding a Corpse, and Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution. Laura Law pled guilty to first-degree reckless homicide and was sentenced to 24 years in prison.
