What had begun as a simple evening of friendly billiards would soon become a night of terror for "Laurie." Over the next few hours, she would experience every woman's worst nightmare. "Laurie" has bravely chosen to tell her traumatic story to help police. Investigators need your help to track down the individuals responsible for the suffering that "Laurie" ultimately endured and survived.

Without warning, a group of men surrounded "Laurie" and abducted her from the bar. She was taken outside and pushed into a car. "Laurie" began screaming but the car was already moving and the man in the back seat was restraining her. After about twenty minutes, the two kidnappers who conversed in Spanish, got into an argument. Then the driver suddenly pulled the car over and left. The remaining man pulled "Laurie" into the front seat and drove her to a nearby apartment. As her abductor dragged her through the door, "Laurie" desperately sought anything she could use as a weapon. But her attempt to fight back only served to further enrage her assailant. He dragged her into a bedroom and violently raped her.

After the assault, "Laurie" used all the power she could and kicked her attacker, which gave her enough time to get up. She ran into the living room, telling herself she just had to get out of the house. Hoping to hamper her attacker’s pursuit, "Laurie" threw furniture in his path. But, he easily ran over it and threw her against a wall. She heard the sound of her bones breaking; the pain was overwhelming. She couldn’t breathe and sensed the lights were going out.

At that point, "Laurie" knew her attacker was out to kill her. With all the strength she could muster, she brought up her knee and as hard as she could, she kicked the assailant in the gut. The force threw him back and caused him to fall. At that point, "Laurie" ran for the back door and was able to get out of the door. But her attacker was right behind her gaining ground. "Laurie" saw a dumpster at the end of an alley and ran behind it. She knelt down and listened. She could hear him on the gravel looking for her. She held her breath, trying not to make any sound. Petrified with fear, "Laurie" waited 20 minutes before she fled the safety of her hiding place and located a payphone where she dialed 9-1-1.

Police responded to the scene immediately. "Laurie" next retraced her escape route in order to lead authorities back to the scene of her brutal assault. Within a few hours of "Laurie’s" escape, police secured a search warrant and entered the property where the attack occurred. Everything was as she said it would be. Police were then able to identify a person named Rufino Castaneda as a potential suspect in this case. Castaneda had a history of choking and assaulting at least one other woman. The day after the abduction, "Laurie" was shown Castaneda’s prior booking photo in a line-up. She identified him as the rapist.

Castaneda had apparently vanished the day after Laurie’s kidnapping. Investigators learned he abruptly resigned from his job following a visit by two unknown individuals. Castaneda has not been seen since. Investigators suspect his partner in the abduction was a relative. However, there is not currently sufficient evidence to make an arrest of the relative. Rufino Castaneda is wanted on rape and criminal confinement charges.

Characteristics: Rufino Castaneda is 28 years old. He stands 5'7" tall and weighs 160 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair. He also goes by the alias Rufino Castaneda Nova or his street name of "Rufo."
