SYNOPSIS: Jewel thief Alan Golder, 43, is quite possibly the best cat burglar in America. He typically strikes when his victims are home in the early evening, prompting law enforcement agencies to dub him "The Dinnertime Bandit." Between 1976 and 1980, Golder stole millions in gems from some of America's wealthiest families. But the shooting death of Long Island millionaire Lawrence Lever during a botched burglary in 1978 interrupted his career of crime. When arrested in connection with the shooting in 1980, Golder cut a deal with authorities to inform on Genovese crime family mobsters in exchange for the minimum sentence of 15 years to life.

Since his parole in 1996, authorities estimate he has stolen $5 million in gems from estates in Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. In November 1997, Golder disappeared from his Queens, New York apartment and went on the run. He is known to have contacts in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Texas and Florida. Golder is in great physical shape and is known to frequent gyms, tanning salons, fine restaurants and nightclubs.
