UNEXPLAINED DEATH JESSICA KEEN As seen on August 2, 2001 on Unsolved Mysteries |
|
SYNOPSIS: Fifteen-year old Jessica Keen was an all-American girl - a cheerleader and honor student. But when she began dating 18-year-old Shawn Thompson, she began to rebel. She quit cheerleading and skipped school to secretly see Shawn. On March 4, 1991, she was placed in a group home for troubled teens. On March 15th, Jessica and Shawn argued on the phone. She left the home saying she was going to the downtown mall. She was last seen alive at the bus stop. Two days later her body was found at a cemetery 20 miles from the home. Police believe Jessica was forced into a car by two men and raped. She then escaped and ran toward the cemetery but her attackers caught up with her and killed her with a heavy object. The suspects took her gold pendant with the single word - "Taken" - on it, but left her watch and ring. For a week, police zeroed in on the boyfriend, Shawn, but DNA tests ruled him out as a possible killer. Eventually the case went cold. The investigation was reopened in 1996 and remains open.
