WANTED: MICHAEL WAYNE BROWN

SYNOPSIS: Sherry Nickerson was only 14 years old when her mother, Donna, apparently helped her husband, Michael Wayne Brown, escape from the Jess Dunn Correctional Center in Taft, Oklahoma. Today, Sherry is a 27-year-old mother who would love to be reunited with her mother.

Michael Wayne Brown had murdered an insurance investigator named Richard Sullivan. He was subsequently caught and convicted, receiving a life sentence for the crime. Donna met Michael Brown when her church group started to correspond with inmates at the nearby correctional facility. Donna hooked up with Brown and they eventually married. On December 3, 1984, just a few months after the marriage, Michael Wayne Brown and another inmate escaped. It was assumed that Donna drove the getaway car because she disappeared the same day after leaving her teenage children with relatives. The escape occurred the day before Sherry's 15th birthday.

The Browns, using the aliases David and Sherry Gregory, were tracked to New Jersey, Texas, and Virginia. In 1987, Donna called her daughter Sherry and told her that she had split up with Brown. Donna called the family again in either 1990 or 1991. Sherry believes her mother is afraid to return because of her involvement in the prison escape. However, Sherry wants her mother to know that the FBI has no warrants for her arrest and would like to interview her to see what she knows about Michael Brown. Authorities are still looking for him, but Donna Moses Brown is completely free to come home.

UPDATE: A viewer, Greg, was surfing the "Unsolved Mysteries" website. He clicked on a story about Michael Wayne Brown - a man who had escaped from prison with the help of his new wife. The photograph of Brown looked exactly like the owner of a video store in Kettering, Ohio, which is where the viewer's wife worked.

Greg was pondering what to do when the phone rang; at the other end of the line was "Kenneth Ginter" - his wife's boss. When Greg remarked that "Ginter" bore a remarkable resemblance to the wanted Michael Wayne Brown, "Ginter" replied, "Everyone has a double." But immediately after the phone call, "Kenneth Ginter" seemed to disappear. Greg ultimately decided to call the FBI, who were already close on Brown's tail. Just then, Brown turned himself in. Donna Brown was not charged with aiding in his escape.

Michael Wayne Brown was found guilty and was sentenced to life in prison.
